The
SMART Process
Assessment Overview
Overview
The SMART assessment from
New Horizons of Wisconsin
is a tool and a process to define, assess, and inventory skill sets from within
an IT Department all the way to an organizational level. The results of the
SMART assessment determine your learning plan and provide justification to move
your organization from its present state to the desired future state, provide
career identification and planning intitiatives, and develop an inventory of
your peoples skills.
SMART is a browser-based application that uses predefined technical skills
dictionaries that align to organizational roles. Each skill is mapped to
related Curriculum course modules
including instructor led, CBT/eLearning, and books . User
assessments performed against these skills provide your organization with an
analysis on skill gaps and specific education requirements. This in turn
provides a tool for assessing your organization’s requirements that can then be
mapped to specific training solutions in helping you to move more effectively
within new technology platforms.
This process benefits your organization in many ways. It will give you a good
basis if you are planning new technology rollouts because your skills gaps will
be identified and your employees can be better educated. It also allows you to
more fully utilize your present technologies by providing a higher realization
of the skills required for those technologies. And it provides you with a
role-based training program that focuses on driving software deployments
through a project-based model.
At the end of this process, you will have the following:
-
Organizational and individual gap analysis
-
Organizational and individual education learning plans
-
Executive summary and assessment results
-
An inventory of your peoples skills
